My Biore Pore Strip bruised me!

Hello there fellow beauty lovers!

Today brings a sad end to my love/hate relationship with pore strips... I was always told by my beauty instructors that pore strips were a big NO NO but those Instagram videos made them look so good and sooooooooooooooooooo satisfying. I've been using pore strips for about 3 years now, and in that time I've only used around 5. Why so little? I've always been afraid that using them too much would stretch my pores and result in more black heads. Alas it was a different tragedy that has brought my use of the strips to an end.

If you follow me on Instagram, you would have seen my story picturing the lovely bruise I am now sporting on my nose. I always had in the back of my head that this may have been a risk I was taking, as when you are taught to wax you are told never to go over a curved area, instead breaking it into small sections. For example you would never put a strip of wax horizontally over a thigh. Why? because you'll cause bruising. This has always seemed a similar concept to the pore strips to me so I've always been worried about bruising my face. I'm sure the horrified look on my face would have been quite hysterical as I peeled back the strip to reveal my new red, giant freckle.

Now the bruise on my face is nothing serious - it isn't even sore. It's a 99% chance it's just a couple of broken capillaries caused by the stretching of my skin during the removal process. It's just not my ideal outcome of a beauty product. I'm hoping my new freckle will heal fast but until then my green concealer is going to get a workout.

2017 New year! Goals, highlights and reflections.

Wait, it's 2017 already? I barely had time to reflect on 2016 and create goals for 2017 and we're already 4 days into the new year. This post is about highlights and reflections of 2016/ Goals for 2017.

2016
What a year it was. There were so many good and bad things this year, both in my life and the world. It's necessary to reflect and acknowledge the negatives in a constructive manner but then you have to move on. There were many scary things happening in the media this year however I'm going to focus on the positives in my life. The biggest and most obvious is.. My Instagram!

2016 was the year of Instagram for me, I gained over 1,000+ followers and had some really great interactions with other brands and bloggers! Below is my top 9 posts from 2016

One of my posts even reached 600 likes! I can't thank you enough for all the love and support.

2017
It's only been 4 days but I've already had a great start to the new year. I enjoyed new years eve with my partner and new years eve with my family! Just yesterday I posted a close up of my new Tarte palette expecting just my usual repeat offenders to like and comment and was absolutely blown away when it reached over 700+ likes and people were tagging their friends.

Goals
I think the easiest way to write my goals is in dot points! So here we go:

- Create better and more content
- Do more Face of the days, Makeup of the days and inspired looks

- Reach a following of 10,000 (I just love interacting with you and I can't wait to meet new people to share my obsession with)
- Continue my fitness Journey
- Apply for Australis's blogger city
- Find my happiness
- Get rid of the things I don't need in my life

These are my main goals at the moment. Have you set any new years goal? What are they?

Thanks so much for reading! See you in the next post.

Fitness Journey Catch up

Welcome back to my beauty blog! Today is a quick catch up with my fitness journey. Since my post just over a month ago I’ve been cutting back my snacks and meals to just 3 meals a day with 1 snack. I also begun with muscle exercises including, squats, push ups, crunches and lunges. The past few weeks I’ve been adding in a little cardio for an extra calorie burning kick. I’ve noticed small changes in my appearance but huge changes in my energy levels and fitness. I’ve had a few birthdays I’ve attended where I was good and held off the sweets and a few where I couldn’t help myself!
Overall, especially with other considerations such as changes of medication I’ve been going through I’m extremely happy with my progress and will power! I’ll be sure to start keeping track of my weight (did you know Kylie Jenner revealed her exact weight?) to share my weight loss progress with you all! If you have any tips or tricks for me, please leave them below!
Thanks so much for reading, see you in the next post!

Acne Coverage Favourites

As some of you may know I used to suffer quite bad acne (2013-2015) So I thought I’d share my acne coverage routine I used to do, and maybe help a few of you out!

The Base
The first thing I started with was a good primer. There are so many on the market now.  Ones used to help treat acne, pore-fillers and colour correctors are all types I’d recommend for a great coverage base.

Concealer
Concealer is a very important part of the coverage routine and finding a good one will change your life. Obviously you’re looking for high coverage so I’d recommend a cream rather than liquid. Colour correction concealers can also help a lot, green especially for knocking out redness. I used to use the Maybelline concealer stick in green and Latonas cream corrector wheel.

Foundation
For the ultimate coverage use a CREAM or LIQUID foundation and set it with a POWDER foundation. If you can afford MAC, go for it! If not you’re not alone, I used to use the Maybelline Fit Me equivalents. For extra coverage apply the powder with a puff instead of a fluffy brush.

Setting
This step is optional but was important to me. My skin looked flawless in the morning but come night evidence of acne was peeping through. There are so many on the market for a range of prices. I used (and still do) the Model in the Bottle to finish my makeup however MIB is quite pricey. I’d recommend NYX or Australis for a cheaper option.

Mini rant, Drugstore Australian prices vs US/UK

Hello and welcome back to my blog! Today's post is very spontaneous and inspired by Black Friday sales.

Black Friday sales always struck me as more of an American thing, but I was super excited to see Australian stores getting involved. It made me wonder the difference in our sales/prices and once again, Australians have an extreme mark up that makes me really mad (surely shipping in bulk doesn't cost that much, in fact I pay less for shipping buying 1 item)!

Here is a few comparisons (prices checked/converted 22/11/2016) I used Priceline for my Australian comparisons as they mostly use the RRP from the brand.

REVLON Ultra Matte Lipstick

Walgreens $8.99US = $12.15AUD

Priceline $23.95 AUD

The difference $11.80
Are you serious Revlon?

L'OREAL PARIS Infallible Matte Foundation

Walmart $11.58US = $15.62AUD

Priceline $29.95AUD

The difference $14.33
COVERGIRL Full lash bloom by lashblast

Walmart $9.21US = $12.43AUD

Priceline $17.95AUD

The difference $5.52
MAYBELLINE The Nudes palette

Walmart $8.98US = $12.12

Priceline $25.95AUD

The difference $13.83
REAL TECHNIQUES 100 arched powder

Real Techniques website $21US = $28.34
and you know what really gets me mad? If you tell real techniques website to display in AUS $ it's  $43.15

Priceline $49

RANT OVER
I'm hoping these brands will take notice that this is not okay!

Thank you so much for reading, have you noticed similar price differences?

Colourpop Cosmetics Haul

Today I’ve got a super exciting and fun post for you all! My first ever Colourpop order arrived last week and I couldn’t not share what I bought. I’ll share the USD price and a conversion to AUD 17/10/2016. *I purchased these during the free international shipping weekend!

The Mile High collection
The first thing I was drawn to was the “sets”. I knew I wanted to try their legendary eyeshadows which are all over the internet. This set comes with 6 cute colours: Truth + Nillionare + So Quiche + LaLa + Cricket + Mittens. I paid $25USD for this set which is $32.90 AUD.

The Staycation Collection
Another cult product from the brand is their lippie sticks! I knew I had to have some so when I saw they had a holiday set I was sold. Once again there were 6 products included, Cookie + Brink + Grunge + LBB + I <3 This + Bossy. I paid $25USD for this set which is $32.90AUD.
Staycation $25USD $32.90AUD

Stole the Show
Like almost anyone who loves makeup I can’t get enough highlighters (I’m always on the lookout for good pale ones) so the final thing I bought was the Super Shock Cheek Stole the Show highlighter. It’s a beautiful gold for pale folk. I paid $8USD for the highlighter which is $10.53.

Have you ever tried colourpop? What did you think?

And don't forget to check out my first ever youtube video!

Top 5 things I learned from beauty school

Hello and welcome back to my beauty blog! Today I will be sharing my top 5 things I learnt from attending beauty school. I attended beauty school back in 2013 and there are a few things I found surprising/interesting during my time, this is 5 of them!

1. Water dries out your skin
I’m not sure if this is common knowledge or not but just using water to wash your face will actually dry and age your skin! Better get that cleanser out.

2.       You only need a tiny bit of product
I know we all love to lather ourselves in moisturizer and other beauty products but the truth is you need way less than you are probably using. Especially during winter people use more product however there is only so much your skin will absorb so it’s a huge waste.

3.       Sunscreen is your number 1 anti-aging product
Anti-ageing serums and products are great, but if you’re serious about your ageless routine protecting your skin from the sun should be your #1 priority.

4.       You need to have healthy skin to get microdermabrasion.
In fact, any good salon will/should assess your skin before you have the treatment. If your skin is not ready they should send you home with a recommended routine to get you ready.

5.       There are more than those 3 common skin types
Everyone has different skin and there are more than dry, combination and oily skin types. Don’t limit yourself to an oily skincare routine when you might have an oily combo type! Do some research or go to a good salon to get your skin assessed J

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed my top 5, I look forward to writing more for you! See you in the next post
